I started in criminal law out of passion.  I started in Family Law out of necessity.  After my own personal experiences in Divorce court, I realized that I have something to offer in the field of Family Law.  I saw lawyers who lacked trial experience struggling with their courtroom procedure. 


Doing everything they could to avoid litigation, even when it was in the best interest of their client.  I knew I could help clients get what they were entitled to with an aggressive, yet intelligent, approach to Family Law cases.  Thus, Michael D. Fluke, P.A. was born with offices in Dunedin and Downtown Tampa.

So what do I do with my free time?  What free time!  I used to golf.  That's me at Harbour Town with my Father, my Brother and my Brother in Law.  With two small children at home, I work and I spend time with my family.  I am a third generation law school graduate.  My Father is still practicing in Massachusetts.  The Law is not only my job, it is my hobby and my passion.  From time to time my wife and I still catch one of her beloved Chicago teams or one of my beloved Boston teams on television.  Other than that, the circus, the beach, Gymboree and anything else the kids may enjoy.  But enough about me, let's talk about what is going on with you!

After going through partners, secretaries and paralegals, I realized that the best way to give the personal service my clients need is to do it myself.  My clients appreciate that when they call, I am the one answering the phone.  No secretaries to answer questions, no case managers, no junior partners or associates to navigate through, just me.  How do I do it?  I limit the number of cases I take on.  I get at least one call a week from individuals represented by a larger law firm who complain that they can never speak with their lawyer.  This is not the kind of practice that I want.  By limiting the cases I take on, I can give each and every client the time and attention that they need and deserve.  The proof is in the results.  This works and my clients are happy.

See this?  This is my family.  But it wasn't always this way.  After two failed marriages I never thought I would be happy again.  I have seen what a Divorce can do.

I have seen Bankruptcy and Foreclosure. Nobody is above the damaging consequences a divorce can have.  As I was going through the lowest point in my life, a friend told me that he had been there and that things will turn around.  Of course, I didn't believe him!  After all, what did he know about my life.  I am here to tell you that it is never too late to start over.  You can pack it in and feel sorry for yourself, or you can take life head on, prepare for the future and fight for your rights.


I first became licensed to practice law in Florida in 1996.  I started out at the Pinellas County Public Defender's Office where I built my reputation as a trial attorney.  After handling over 6,000 criminal defense cases including 14 homicide cases, I was lured into private practice to take on representation in a high profile Tampa murder case.
